A review of Bar Solo by Nat written on Sunday 22nd of February 2009
I went with three friends to Solo last wednesday evening. Thank goodness one of us had booked as the place was packed out. They had live music, a really good jazz quartet and two excellent singers. They did some old favourites and some tunes I didnt know before. The meals we had were very good value and tasty (two courses for £10 on music nights).
There was quite a large party for a woman's birthday and everybody sang happy birthday to her and then she got up to sing, she was really good. I think it must have been arranged beforehand.
The staff were rushed off their feet but didnt make us wait for ages and they stayed cheerful and helpful inspite of being to rushed, with such a large party group.
They have bands on another night with the same food deal so it neednt break the bank. And, it is really nice to have live music in a smallish venue, very intimate, we all felt like friends..
