The Hoxton Grille restaurant in London made a big splash when it landed there - an un-selfconsciously stylish spot that had the nerve to turn its back on heaving Shoreditch and centre its dining room around a restful courtyard. Then it left out the culinary trickery and served classic dishes and long-time favourites simply made from the best ingredients. Then it made them affordable. Crikey. The cool, smart dining room with swooping leather banquettes and witty décor attracts an arty, clever crowd. The bar has its own scene, and DJs at the weekend. The easy-going wine list features more than 25 by the glass and more than 20 by the carafe.
