East meets West in Zik'r, the sensational new flamenco show created by and starring Karen Ruimy and Killing Joke bassist Youth.
Zik'r traces flamenco's journey from India to Spain. The original music fuses elements of Indian, Moroccan and flamenco to create an atmospheric and exuberant score performed live. With a company of 13 dancers and musicians, this unique fusion of eastern and western influences harnesses the wild intensity of flamenco mixed with a splash of the exotic.
Killing Joke bassist Youth has also produced for bands including The Verve, Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd and Crowded House and is working on new material with Pete Murphy and Echo and the Bunnymen. Moroccan born Ruimy is a flamenco dancer and singer who has performed all over the world with acclaimed shows at the Folies Bergere in Paris and London's Lyric Theatre.
Following sold out UK performances last year, Zik'r now returns reworked and newly expanded. Set alight by spectacular and passionate flamenco, Zik'r is at the Peacock Theatre for five performances only.

"Traces flamenco's evolution from India to Spain via the Middle East. It's an intriguing story, with the depth of flamenco's roots in India brought startlingly to the fore before it turns into the hand-clapping, foot-rapping strut of Andalucia."
