Be careful what you wish for...
In Sondheim's enchanting musical well-known fairy tale characters find themselves in unfamiliar circumstances.
The same elements are there - a slipper as pure as gold, a cape as red as blood, a cow as white as milk. But when all roads have been destroyed, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack and Little Red Riding Hood find themselves straying from the path. How far will they go in order to get all they ever wished for?
Featuring the Chorus of Opera North (Carousel, Kiss Me Kate, The Ring Cycle) and directed by the Playhouse's Artistic Director James Brining (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street), prepare yourself for a cautionary tale that is far more than 'Once upon a time...'
